Congratulations to Richard Lambert and Rebecca Henry—it’s wonderful to see The Sound of Everything and The Wolf Road on the impressive list for the 2022 Carnegie. Two coming of age novels by authors with very different approaches who both like to experiment and play with language in a way that’s intriguing, daring and carefully controlled. Kadie and Lucas have both been through experiences that have made it difficult for them to trust or relate to others but they have the courage to finally let go of disbelief and forge something new.
